There is a beauty secret that has been used for centuries, passed down in ancient texts about Ayurvedic skincare. It lies in the benefits of Kumkumadi oil to brighten dull skin and bestow a youthful glow.
The name Kumkumadi comes from one of its key ingredients, saffron, which is called ‘kumkum’ in Sanskrit. The multi-purpose oil can be used as moisturiser, but it is particularly valuable in an Ayurvedic facial, used in conjunction with a Kansa wand, a wooden-handled, copper and tin dome-headed massage tool that is a key pillar of traditional Ayurvedic massage.
Kansa wand
A Kansa wand massage stimulates the blood flow under the skin, as well as connect with vitality points to promote the flow of energy around the face and body.
Because the Kansa wand is designed to be used to activate marma points (more commonly known as vitality points within the body), the act of a Kansa wand massage increases the flow of prana (life-force energy) throughout the whole body. Meaning it is a wonderfully relaxing and rejuvenating experience with deep, spiritual benefits.
The benefits of using an oil like Kumkumadi oil alongside the Kansa wand is like a beautiful, symbiotic dance. Not only does using the oil prevent dragging, and improve the manual act of massaging the skin, but the Kansa wand helps push the Kumkumadi oil deeper into the skin, increasing the natural benefits.
