In the spirit of Earth Day, we’re shedding light on the beautiful, life-long relationship between Ayurveda and the Earth – a relationship which, from KAMA AYURVEDA’s very beginning, has inspired our sensitive and dedicated approach towards environmental protection.

Ayurvedic sustainability: Living in harmony with nature
The centuries-strong science of Ayurveda views the health of the individual and the health of the environment as interconnected. The principles of Ayurveda emphasise living in harmony with nature, using its resources wisely and respectfully.
Adopting a contemporary approach
With this deep-rooted commitment to the wellbeing of both people and the planet, at KAMA AYURVEDA, we intertwine the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda with contemporary sustainability practices. We create remedies which not only nourish the mind, body and soul, but which, in equal measure, work to nourish and reestablish balance in nature in the following ways:
Kind remedies. The plant-based active and potent natural-origin ingredients that make up the majority of our remedies are harvested the traditional way – following natural cycles – to minimise the impact on biodiversity.
Conscious packaging. We use recycled and recyclable materials wherever possible. Where we cannot use glass, we use recycled and recyclable plastic bottles along with post-industrial paper boxes, plus labels that are 100% recycled from mine waste.
Monitored processes. Our manufacturing sites are currently under third party certification. We monitor and manage our water consumption and energy use to set specific, science-based reduction targets.
Butterfly Mark certified. For our ongoing commitment to sustainability, we are proud to have been awarded the Butterfly Mark by Positive Luxury. The Butterfly Mark is a symbol that we are committed to higher and higher standards for people and nature, that we stand for progress over perfection and difficult work over easy wins, and that we will never stop trying to improve.
Striving for better. By next year, our goal is to use 100% renewable green energy in all our production sites, and by 2026, to use 100% recyclable packaging across our collection, in time for our next Positive Luxury assessment.
Our Ayurvedic oils: An homage to nature
At the core of our collection lies a quartet of oils derived from traditional Ayurvedic recipes. Bringadi Intensive Hair Treatment Oil, for instance, comes from the ancient Ayurvedic text {sahasrayogam} and blends herbs like Bhringaraj, Balloon Vine, and Indigo, known for their potent power to address scalp health and hair vitality. Though reintroduced into a world far more modern, each ingredient is still just as carefully selected as it was centuries ago, respecting the Ayurvedic way.

More than a brand philosophy
At KAMA AYURVEDA, our commitment to sustainability extends beyond our products. Our sustainable sourcing is not just about maintaining ecological balance; it is also about preserving the generational knowledge and cultural heritage at the heart of the Ayurvedic tradition. It is our love letter to Kerala.
As we observe Earth Day, we invite you to reflect on the intrinsic link we all share with the Earth, and what a lifestyle more aligned with the natural world might look like for you. Not only for personal health and wellbeing, but also to reduce our ecological footprint, from the products we use to the practices we adopt in our daily lives. By choosing products that are kind to both our bodies and the planet, we are seamlessly contributing to a healthier, more balanced Earth.
