6 tips for better sleep
Getting a good night's sleep is fundamental for our overall health. While we sleep, our body works hard to repair itself, while our brain consolidates learning and processes emotions. Lack of sleep can mess up our immune system and blood sugar, stress us out and lead to serious health problems.

Here are some tips for deep, uninterrupted sleep.
1. Create a sleep sanctuary
Make your bedroom the ideal sleeping environment. This means ensuring that it’s cool, dark, comfortable, ventilated and free from electronics. Your bedroom should also be conducive to relaxation and sleep. When you enter your sleep sanctuary, rest is coming.
2. Daily movement
Exercising daily has numerous benefits, including helping you fall asleep and improving sleep quality. Whether it’s walking, yoga, cycling or other forms of exercise, moving your body daily can do wonders for your health. Exercise is best performed earlier in the day, as strenuous exercise close to bedtime can agitate the body and mind.
3. Calming herbal teas
Ayurvedic herbs such as chamomile, lavender and passionflower can help you relax and get better sleep. As part of your nighttime ritual, a cup of herbal tea can help you release the stresses of the day and prepare for sleep. Conversely, caffeine stimulates the nervous system and can reduce sleep quality.
4. Yin yoga
A wonderful way to unwind before bed is to perform a simple, slow-paced yoga routine each evening. Yin yoga is a passive practice where you hold postures for several minutes. You can either follow a teacher or follow along with this evening stretch routine.
5. Calming breathwork
Another way to wind down before bed is simply to use the breath. Slow, controlled breathing calms the nervous system and reduces stress. Examples of down-regulating breathwork practices include alternate nostril breathing and ocean breathing. Try 5 minutes before bed.
6. Mindfulness meditation
Meditating before bed can help clear your mind of all the worries from the day. It promotes restfulness and brings a sense of peace to your body. If you want to learn some mindfulness techniques, a guided meditation can be super helpful.
